Excited to share that on May 6th, 2024, Mr. Jaydeep Sinh Chavada, a PhD Research Scholar and DST-INSPIRE Fellow from the Department of Chemistry at IIT Gandhinagar, delivered a captivating Alumni Lecture titled “Medicinal Chemistry of Marketed Antiamoebic Drugs” to undergardaute Pharmacy students at Institiute of Pharmacy, Nirma University, Ahmedabad. He delved into the fascinating world of medicinal chemistry, focusing on compounds used to treat infections caused by amoebae, particularly Entamoeba histolytica responsible for amoebiasis.
During the lecture, Mr. Jaydeep provided an overview of key drugs used in treating amoebiasis, delving into their medicinal chemistry aspects including Structure-Activity Relationship (SAR) and synthesis. He also explored ongoing research in this domain, discussing efforts to optimize SAR, combat resistance, and discover novel compounds for improved amoebiasis treatment outcomes.
It was truly insightful to gain such comprehensive insights into the medicinal chemistry of antiamoebic drugs and their potential impact on combating this infectious disease. Kudos to Mr. Jaydeep Sinh Chavada for sharing his expertise with us!
