The Student Association of the Institute of Pharmacy at Nirma University (NIPSA) organized a Space Research Awareness Program for undergraduate students on August 23rd, coinciding with National Space Day, as declared by the Government of India. The event featured live telecasts of the ongoing program at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, allowing participants to witness the grand celebrations in the capital.
In addition, an interactive session was held with Dr. Priti Mehta, Chair Professor, who is actively involved in Space Medicine research. Dr. Mehta informed students about India’s Human Space Program, as well as recent reforms and initiatives by the Indian government related to space policy, education, and research. She highlighted the growing opportunities for the younger generation in space startups and research. With the recent announcement by the ISRO Chairman regarding the launch of the Indian Space Station, Bhartiya Ankarish Station (BAS), Dr. Mehta emphasized that opportunities will be available not only for engineering students but also for those in medicine, pharmacy, basic sciences, and related fields. The interactive session was followed by a quiz, in which students participated with great enthusiasm. Prof. Dr. Gopal Natesan, Director of the Institute of Pharmacy, congratulated Team NIPSA on the successful execution of the program.
