The Nirma University Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences (NUJPS) is a biannual journal that publishes original research work that significantly improves scientific knowledge.

The Journal focuses on various types of research papers i.e. original research work either as a full research paper or as a short communication, review articles and case studies on a current topic in Pharmaceutical Sciences are also considered for publication in the Journal.

The Nirma University Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences – NUJPS (ISSN: 2348 – 4012) is an open access journal that publishes original research work that significantly improves the scientific knowledge in all the areas of Pharmaceutical Sciences i.e. Pharmaceutical Technology, Novel drug delivery systems, Nanotechnology, Biopharmaceutics & Pharmacokinetics, Medicinal Chemistry, Computational Chemistry, Molecular Drug Design, Pharmacognosy and Phytochemistry, Pharmacology, Pharmaceutical Analysis, Pharmacy Practice, Clinical and Hospital Pharmacy, Cell Biology, Genomics and Proteomics, Pharmacogenomics, Bioinformatics and Biotechnology of Pharmaceutical Interest, Pharmaceutical Management, Regulatory Affairs, Drug Discovery, Cosmeceuticals and Nutraceuticals, etc.

The Journal will be focusing on various types of research papers i.e. original research work either as a Full Research Paper or as a Short Communication. Review Articles, Mini Review Articles, Book review, Editorial, Letters to Editor and Case Reports/Studies on a current topic in Pharmaceutical Sciences are also considered for publication by the Journal.

Plagiarism:

Plagiarism takes many forms, from ‘passing off’ another’s paper as the author’s own paper, to copying or paraphrasing substantial parts of another’s paper (without attribution), to claiming results from research conducted by others.  Plagiarism in all its forms constitutes unethical behaviour and is unacceptable.

Following actions by the authors will be considered as plagiarism in NUJPS

  1. Reproduction of someone else’s work, in part or whole, without permission and presenting it as one’s own work
  2. Buying/stealing/copying assignments, experimental results, etc.
  3. Reproducing by copying a section of a book or an article/report/dissertation without proper citation
  4. Copying figures/charts/graphs/images without acknowledging or claiming it/them as one’s own
  5. Quoting from a source word for word without giving reference
  6. Putting someone else’s ideas without proper citation
  7. Paraphrasing
  8. Self-Plagiarism: reproducing/publishing one’s own published work, in part or whole, without referring to earlier published work.
  9. NUJPS will follow COPE guidelines for publication ethics.

The following method(s) will be used alone or in combination for identification of plagiarism

  1. Checking an individuals’ work using a standard Plagiarism Detection Software Tool, as prescribed by the NUJPS Editorial Board Members.
  2. Examination of the manuscript for specific sentences or unusual phrases taken from known sources.
  3. Comparison of the manuscript of two or more authors having a similar type of work.
  4. Also, the authors may be asked to provide evidence of their work. Clear examples or a record of work will assist them to prove that no plagiarism has occurred.

The following actions are recommended to the authors to avoid plagiarism:

  1. All sources should be disclosed, and if large amounts of other people’s written or illustrative material are to be used, permission must be sought.
  2. The authors should ensure that they have written entirely original works, and if the authors have used the work and/or words of others, then, this has been appropriately cited or quoted and permission has been obtained where necessary.
  3. Proper acknowledgment of the work of others must always be given.
  4. Authors should cite publications that have influenced the reported work and that give the work appropriate context within the larger scholarly record.
  5. Information obtained privately, as in conversation, correspondence, or discussion with third parties, must not be used or reported without explicit, written permission from the source.
