The Institute of Pharmacy, Nirma University (IPNU) celebrated World Pharmacists’ Day 2026 on 25 September 2026 by organizing a meaningful community awareness programme at Sheth Amulakh Vidyalay, Gota, Ahmedabad.
Aligned with the theme “Empowering Pharmacists for Healthier Futures” and the PCI national focus “Swastha Bharat: Combating Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR),” the programme aimed to create awareness among school students and staff about responsible and safe use of medicines.
✨ Key Highlights of the Programme:
🎭 Awareness Skit – An engaging skit highlighted the risks associated with antibiotic misuse, self-medication, incomplete treatment courses, and the importance of pharmacists in promoting appropriate medicine use.
🎤 Interactive Awareness Session – Students conducted an informative session covering rational use of medicines, antimicrobial resistance, medication safety, and the importance of seeking guidance from qualified healthcare professionals.
📄 Educational Leaflet Distribution – Awareness materials were distributed among students and staff to reinforce key messages on responsible medicine use and prevention of AMR.
👥 The programme reached approximately 300 students and 15 teachers/staff members, creating an impactful platform for dialogue and awareness on responsible medicine use and the vital role of pharmacists in patient care and public health.
🌟 Student-Led Initiative
A special highlight of the celebration was the active involvement of Third-Year Pharm.D students, who conceptualized, planned, designed, and implemented the entire awareness programme. From developing the skit and preparing the educational session to designing and distributing awareness leaflets, the students transformed the theme into a meaningful community-health initiative.
Through this initiative, our students demonstrated that pharmacists are not only healthcare professionals but also important educators, advocates, and partners in promoting public health and combating antimicrobial resistance.
💙 Together, let us empower pharmacists, promote responsible medicine use, and build healthier communities!
