The Institute of Pharmacy, Nirma University (IPNU) organized an insightful expert lecture on “Antimicrobial Stewardship – Principles to Practice” on 13-02-2026 for Pharm.D III and IV year students.
The session was delivered by Dr. Vrinda Nampoothiri, an experienced clinical pharmacist and researcher with over a decade of expertise in antimicrobial stewardship. She highlighted key aspects such as rational antimicrobial use, dose optimization, de-escalation strategies, and the pivotal role of Pharm.D professionals in stewardship programs. Students gained practical perspectives on implementing stewardship principles effectively in hospital settings.
Emphasizing that “Antimicrobial stewardship is not about restricting antibiotics, but about using the right drug, at the right dose, for the right duration, for the right patient,” the session fostered meaningful discussions on combating antimicrobial resistance and strengthening patient safety.
