The NSS Unit of the Institute of Pharmacy, Nirma University, successfully organized a Diabetes Awareness Camp on October 28, 2026, at Jaspur village, Ahmedabad, under the theme “Early Action on Diabetes.”
The initiative witnessed the active participation of 42 NSS volunteers and aimed to promote awareness about diabetes, its risk factors, signs and symptoms, potential complications, and preventive measures.
The camp included participant registration and health assessments such as blood glucose level, blood pressure, height, weight, and Body Mass Index (BMI), as applicable. NSS volunteers actively contributed to participant coordination, record maintenance, health assessments, and community engagement.
The programme emphasized the importance of a balanced diet, regular physical activity, maintaining a healthy body weight, avoiding tobacco consumption, and undergoing periodic health screenings. Participants were encouraged to seek appropriate medical advice for abnormal screening results.
Through this community outreach initiative, the NSS Unit reaffirmed its commitment to preventive healthcare, community well-being, and social responsibility, while providing students with valuable practical experience in public health awareness and community engagement.
