The Institute of Pharmacy at Nirma University hosted an extensive Orientation Programme for new Pharm.D. students from July 29th to August 3rd, 2024. This immersive introduction concluded with a memorable closing ceremony on August 3rd, marking a significant milestone for the incoming cohort of pharmacy students.
The ceremony began with a heartfelt welcome from Prof. Dr. Gopal Natesan, Director of the Institute of Pharmacy, who greeted the students warmly. He emphasized the importance of their chosen field in healthcare and highlighted the critical role they would play in ensuring society’s well-being.
A highlight of the closing ceremony was the inaugural White Coat Ceremony, symbolizing the students’ transition from preliminary education to the practical application of their pharmaceutical training. This gesture not only represented their entry into the professional world but also their commitment to upholding the highest standards of professionalism, ethics, and patient care. As each student donned their new coat, they were reminded of the profound responsibilities it entailed, including the need for empathy, integrity, and a dedication to continuous learning and self-improvement.
During the ceremony, students took a pharmacy pledge, a formal oath that reinforced their dedication to ethical practice, patient care, and the pursuit of knowledge throughout their careers.
In his concluding remarks, Dr. Jigar Shah, Coordinator of the Orientation Programme, provided a detailed recap of the various sessions, workshops, and activities that comprised the orientation, reflecting on the program’s comprehensive and engaging nature.
