In this project, macro-algae zones will be identified and zonated from in situ survey, field radiometers, multi-spectral and hyper-spectral satellite datasets. Suitable radiometric channels to monitor macro-algae taxonomy will be brought out basing on hyperspectral and remote sensing spectral libraries and classification approaches. Commercially important species wise zonation will be carried out, which will be useful for industries, government and other agencies and possibly for large scale mariculture activity. Important bio-markers, bio-active compounds and toxins has to be identified based on the pharmacological analysis of macro-algae samples and their distributions using satellite data.
